Aston Elementary Mural, Sept-Dec 2025

Working with students and staff at Aston Elementary, I designed a mural incorporating inspirational imagery, and the message that each student holds the potential for leadership. The teachers and counselors came up with the words “Mirror, mirror on the wall, there a leader in us all!” to greet students each day. The wall includes the school mascot in a pose that echoes a work from art history by Charles Wilson Peale, as the mascot pulls a curtain back to reveal a blooming dawn growing across the landscape.

Each student and staff member had the opportunity to paint a part of this mural, and some students added their own ideas envisioning their future in bubble that float across this new day. Inside a blooming field of flowers, the large sunflowers have mirror in their centers at student heights, so that each student can see themselves in this mural with the message of a bright future!
